David had a super busy July and August at work, so when he found out that he had a training in Seattle a couple of days after busy season ended, he knew we might not make it! He suggested that we all go with him. I was a little hesistant at first, since it was Madi's first week of kindergarten and I didn't want to spend the money, but it obviously didn't take too much convincing to get me onboard! Plus my brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Maria live in Seattle, and we wanted to visit them! Our trip started out pretty crazy. Our flight left at 4pm, and I had everyone packed and ready in the car by 2pm and we swung by Dave's work and picked him up still typing away! The kids did great on the flight and we got into Seattle, ate a Subway downtown and got settled in our hotel (the Westin, thank you Deloitte!). After that Dave worked through most of the night and the next day until 6 pm. Then the vacation really started! Jeff and Maria met us at the hotel and we went to a Mariner's game. It was the perfect weather, and it even started to rain a little, so they closed the dome. My kids and Boston and Reese had the best time eating Mariner's Dogs and popcorn and running back and forth on the bleachers. We stayed in downtown Seattle from Monday through Thursday. While Dave was working on Tuesday and Wednesday I strapped Ella in the bjorn and Brock and Madi took turns in the stroller as we walked the streets of Seattle. We went to Pike's Place several times and loved the homemade donuts and fresh fruit from the stands. We ate at Ivar's Seafood and played at the Seattle Aquarium. When Dave was finished working, we went to the Space Needle, Experience Music Project (EMP) Museum, and took an Argosy Harbor Tour Cruise. On Friday when we were staying with Jeff and Maria, we went to the Seattle Zoo, and that night we went to a super nice seafood restaurant for Dave's 31st birthday. Dave and Jeff went golfing Saturday morning and Maria and I took the kids to play at a local park. Later that night we ate at MOD Pizza, and played at Green Lake. It was so pretty! Sunday we went to church and after we went to a lighthouse on the Puget Sound. Our flight left super early on Monday morning, but we all made it up and on the flight. We had so much fun, and although it was lots of work, I'm so glad we got to go. Seattle is beautiful!
